SteelSeries 4H

The SteelSeries 4H is, as you can probably guess, a grade below the 5H. Don’t be discouraged though, the 4H performs well in game and well enough for music and video. The overall design of the 4H looks a bit bland, especially when compared to some of the other SteelSeries headsets such as the 5H v2 However, it seems as though SteelSeries have sacrificed looks and not performance in order to serve gamers with a lower budget.

The SteelSeries 4H features large, comfortable earcups with thick cushioning – a staple among SteelSeries headsets. The headset is adjustable, to ensure maximum comfort for gamers. The design is simple and not flashy, but it appears as though quality materials have been used. The microphone is retractable and sturdy, yet flexible so you can adjust it to suit your preference. Within each earcup is a 40mm driver, which delivers quality sound in and out of games. The wired remote features volume control and three microphone settings for added convenience.

SteelSeries have yet again called upon professional gamers to assist with the design and optimization of the 4H headset. The resulting headset allows for a great in-game experience and a greater ability to detect enemies based on footsteps, gunfire, reloading or grenades bouncing off of walls. Outside of games the headset performs most tasks satisfactorily, movies and music sound clear and there’s no distortion.

Overall the SteelSeries 4H is a decent headset ideal for the lower-budget gamer who’s not too concerned with looks and ‘added perks’. It’ll get the job done.
